Millions of London commuters face travel misery as latest Tube drivers' strike over pay shuts entire network

Packed: Queues to enter Oxford Circus station were already building ahead of the Tube strike as workers desperately tried to get home

Millions of commuters are facing an early start this morning as London braced itself for more travel misery caused by the latest Tube strike.

Some 250 extra buses have been put on to cope with the disruption, while taxis, the London Overground and National Rail services are in high demand.

Many passengers had to organise alternative transport to get to work after the London Underground network ground to a halt at 6.30pm last night.

Staff walked out in protest at Transport for London's latest revised offer over plans to introduce Tube services all night on Fridays and Saturdays.

Chaos: Scores of people could be seen desperately trying to board the last Tube trains from Oxford Circus ahead of the 6.30pm walkout
